Born in Hawthorne, Nevada, Jace Harnage began singing in her school and church choirs and groups at a very young age. At the age of 15, she formed a band called "Somethin’ Smooth" and began performing professionally. After graduating high school, she attended the University of Hartford and Hartt School of Music in Connecticut. There she became lead vocalist for the Emory Smith/Paul Brown Sextet, and began performing locally and in various venues on the Eastern seaboard. It was also at that time, her love and passion for jazz developed. Jace has opened for and sung with such performers as Rich Little, Joey Bishop, the Smothers Brothers, Charro, Don Rickles, Lou Rawls, and Buddy Hackett in major showrooms in the Lake Tahoe, Reno and Las Vegas area. After moving to Hawaii and forming her own band, Watercolors, she opened for the Jacksons, Fleetwood Mac, Marvin Gaye, Pat Matheny, the Brecker Brothers, Sarah Vaughn and Dizzy Gillespie, to name a few. She has performed as a backing or featured vocalist on recordings and live performances with Frank Zappa, Bob Dylan, Kenny Rankin, Tom Jones, Rita Coolidge, Van Morrison, Hiroshima, Gino Vanelli, Pat Doheny, Bobby Womack, Chaka Khan, Lisa Fischer, Vonda Shepard, Michael Ruff, Flora Purim, Mel Lewis, Buddy Colette, Hubert, Ronnie, Eloise and Debra Laws, Jay Hoggard, and many others.
Jace arrived in Atlanta in 1998,
and has jammed and recorded with some of Atlanta’s finest musicians,
including Gary Motley, Jacques LeSure, Richard Johnson, Joe Gransden, and
Danny Harper, just to name a few. Thanks, Jace, for making our dream come true in Atlanta!
