Betty Hérard Desoto was born in Haiti. She moved to Dominican Republic, in 1986, where she renewed here interest in art. She was president of two international benefic institutions, while dedicating her time to painting. She took classes with several well-known artists including Carol Binford and Marianela Jimenez. Betty had several exhibitions in Dominican Republic. Her work is in private collections around the world. Here landscapes reproduce exotic Caribbean scenes, but she is best known for colorful heads in turbans done in oil on canvas. Betty moved to Florida, in 1998, where she works as a translator, while participating in collective expositions in the Weston community. |
