Thank you, Joan,

A beautiful piece; the opening lines remind me of a friend, who became a minister, who once had a very vivid dream in which Ancestors were desperately trying to reach us and communicate, shaking trees, sending wind, etc., while we just went on as if these things were routine.  Poetry is also one of those "times to pause," when we not only appreciate the gift and power of language, but even more so the power of language to bring matters of the heart and soul to life, as you did here.  The year ends on just a little better note with your contribution to it.

Best to you all ways,
G

POETRY BY JOAN CARTWRIGHT

THE SUN, THE WIND, THE LAKE, A BIRD AND YOU

©2009 Joan Cartwright

The end of the year brings forceful wind

That glides across the lake

And rustles the branches of the trees

While a bird sits and suns upon a stone

Then, you join me in my reverie

Of wonderment and appreciation

Oh, world of my life, tomb of my grave

And core of my existence,

Thank you for the delight of living

Thank you for the light of being

Thank you for the desire of loving

Of knowing this experience

To live, to walk on Earth and see

The sun, the wind, the lake, a bird and YOU!
